???? MAJOR FEBS ANNOUNCEMENT????

FEBS Research Academy

FEBS is pleased to announce the FEBS Research Academy, a scientific excellence body that brings together leading scientists to strengthen FEBS activities in support of research, collaboration, and innovation in the molecular life sciences and beyond. The Founding Members, among them 28 Nobel Prize Laureates, will guide FEBS initiatives in cutting-edge scientific fields and in areas connected to societal challenges.

FEBS will host an inauguration ceremony for the FEBS Research Academy at next year's FEBS Congress in Riga, Latvia. You can read more about the FEBS Research Academy and its Founding Members on our website.

Eleftheria Zeggini receives the 2027 FEBS | EMBO Women in Science Award

FEBS and EMBO are delighted to announce Eleftheria Zeggini, Director of the Institute of Translational Genomics at Helmholtz Munich, as the recipient of the 2027 FEBS | EMBO Women in Science Award, which celebrates its 20th edition this year.

Zeggini is recognised for her pioneering contributions to human genomics and the translation of large-scale genetic discoveries into biological and clinical insights, alongside her leadership in equality and inclusion in science.

The award will be presented at the 51st FEBS Congress in Riga, 3–7 July 2027, where Zeggini will deliver a plenary award lecture.

Open positions at FEBS Press

FEBS Press is currently recruiting for three positions across its journals and publishing team:

  • Digital Marketing Manager, FEBS Press
  • Editor in Chief, FEBS Letters
  • Editor, Molecular Oncology

Interested in joining FEBS Press, or know someone who might be a good fit? Explore the opportunities, apply or share them with your network.

The FEBS Journal

At The FEBS Journal, biochemistry is the starting point – not the limit. Through our commitment to publishing rigorous, high-impact research in all aspects of the molecular life sciences, the journal brings together diverse communities.

To get you started on your Biochemistry & Beyond journey with us, explore our RNA biology & epigenetics collection. Beyond transmitting genetic information and regulating gene expression, various RNA species exert fundamental regulatory signalling functions, and their dysregulation drives many diseases.

If you are working on any aspect of RNA structure and biology, coding and non-coding RNA species, epigenetic factors or chromatin dynamics, submit your next manuscript to us. It’ll be in excellent hands!

FEBS Open Bio

FEBS Open Bio is pleased to announce the launch of the Early Career Reviewer Hub, a new initiative designed to provide professional training and first-hand experience to early career researchers (PhD students and postdocs) interested in taking part in the peer review process. If you are interested in this initiative or know of anybody that might be, visit our website and apply here. The official project presentation will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 16:00 pm CEST and we invite you to register to the webinar here.

In addition, to accompany the recent Special Issue on Bioplastics and Biopolymers, we are pleased to announce that a free webinar entitled "Bioplastics and Biopolymers: A step closer towards environmental sustainability" that will be held on Tuesday, September 29 at 16:00 CEST. To register, please follow this link. We look forward to welcoming you all!

FEBS Letters

The latest Special Issue of FEBS Letters, “Inositol phosphates and phosphoinositides — functions and cellular dynamics,” is online now! This issue, guest edited by Prof. Volker Haucke (FMP, Berlin) and Prof. Feng Rao (SUSTech, Shenzhen), brings together 15 complementary review articles by renowned experts in the field, which together highlight how soluble inositol phosphates, inositol pyrophosphates, and phosphoinositides form an interconnected signalling network with fundamental and translational relevance. We invite you to read the full issue for free here

To accompany this new issue, FEBS Letters is also organising a free webinar on the latest in phosphoinositide research, featuring presentations by Volker Haucke (FMP, Berlin) and Feng Rao (SUSTech, Shenzhen). The 1-hour webinar will be held on Wednesday 21 October at 09:00 BST (10:00 CEST); we invite you to register here.

Molecular Oncology

In support of Gynaecological and Urological Cancer Awareness Month, the September issue of Molecular Oncology focuses on malignant conditions in the female reproductive system and urinary tract. The issue features articles on pre-clinical research alongside manuscripts on clinical diagnostics and treatments for ovarian, endometrial, cervical, bladder and urothelial cancers.

We are excited to announce the 4th call for the joint  EACR-Molecular Oncology editorial fellowship. This program supports and educates early-career scientists by providing hands-on experience in academic publishing through a 3-month placement with the Molecular Oncology editorial team. Applications are open from 16 September to 11 November 2026.
